Susan Shaw helped to found the Calvert Community Foundation (CCF) as the liaison from the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Susan served as an elected BOCC member and leader for 3 consecutive terms or 12 years. She decided to return to the business sector, ending her elected political career in December, 2014. In February of 2015, Susan rejoined the Board of the CCF.
Susan has worked in various mental health capacities for her whole adult life. She is a Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C) and Board Certified Diplomate (BCD) in Social Work who has had a private practice in Clinical Social Work and consulting for over 40 years. Additionally, Susan has served in many leadership roles in the community, in mental health, and in politics. She is currently initiating a number of health and wellness related businesses with partners including peer support groups for women, psychotherapy groups for teens who are cutting, and couples’ therapy groups. She is the managing partner for a group health and mental health practice called Health & Wholeness Psychotherapy and Natural Therapies. Additionally, Susan writes mental health and current event columns for newspapers under the name of SincerelySusan.info.
Susan brings her extensive knowledge of the Calvert County Community to her role as a Board member of the CCF. She is enthusiastic about expanding the funds covered under the CCF umbrella to enhance the quality of life in Calvert County even further.
Susan is a widow who resides in Huntingtown and is both a mother and grandmother.
